It's one of the greatest break up albums ever, and even though I haven't broken up with anyone in 2 years, I'm going to play anyway. So, if you've had troubles with your love lately, then I've got a record to help exorcise the harsh feelings you may be harboring. It's both gut wrenchingly painful and hopeful all in one hour. Songs about loss of companions, "The Last Night", loss of the environment "It's Too Late", loss of oneself "The Hanging Tree", and loss of life through common day to day practices, "Stand Guard". None of the songs are meant to be negative, but just by the lyrical content alone, they demand to be understood and reacted upon. This album helped me through some of my most bitter break up moments. Raw power from your speakers just when you need it. Power that only the guitarist of the vastly influential band Husker Du could deliver. He helps us realize that it's just worth it after-all, even though our skies may sometimes look bleak. When I met Bob Mould outside of the Half Price Books on Broadway, (He's used to live in Austin.) I told him that every loving being should hear it. He laughed and said "Ha ha, yeah. Thanks". Bob Mould's 'Black Sheets Of Rain' in it's entirety. "A simple solution is all I require. If fire is the passion, I only aspire to be free.....let there be peace." Peace and hugs to all. Michael Next week. A musical tribute to the work of Wim Wenders. Everything from Nick Cave to The Buena Vista Social Club to U2.
