Hello again.... Got a lot of stuff to do. This one's not here til Tuesday.......but alas.....Now you get a mid-week surprise. :o) Again....I'm trying to get all the shows recorded so anyone that wants to hear it, can. From now on...I will post at the end of the playlist whether or not it was recorded. That way if you liked something I played, you can request a format in which you would like me to send the show/shows. If you have a computer that plays Mpeg3's, and most of them will, then I could send you a CD-ROM full of about 8 hours worth of past shows. I also hope to have the show streaming over the net at some point, but I don't know when that will be. I also can burn audio CD's, get it to you on cassette, mini-disc and even VHS (just the audio). If you have a fast internet connection I could even send them to you through the internet on AOL's AIM or ICQ. Here again.... One of my favorite site to hear live sessions. If you have DSL or Cable, www.kcrw.org is the place. Click on a "Morning Becomes Eclectic" link and do a search for all the shows. They have almost all of the shows from the past 8 months in there. Find your favorite band, chances are that they are there, and enjoy. 9)Chomsky-"Overtures" Only found on Chomsky's "old site" under "Sense" and "Old Chestnuts". I just found out their new CD 'Onward Quirky Solders' will be released in early August. I should have a copy soon. 10)April March-"Ideal Standard" From the CD 'Chrominance Decoder'. 11)The Cars-"You're All I Got Tonight". From the vinyl LP 'The Cars'. 12)Air-"Lucky and Unhappy" From the brand new CD '10,000 Hz Legend'. 13)The Wedding Present-"Kansas" From the CD 'Saturnalia'. 14)Ben Folds-"The Luckiest" & "Annie Waits" 2 songs from the not yet released debut solo album from Ben Folds. It's coming out in September. The first single and album is called "Rockin' The Suburbs". It will be my "single of the year". IT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought "Hash Pipe" by Weezer was catchy, but I have 7 of the 12 songs so far....(Napster Baby!!) and the title track is one of the best songs ever written. However, I can't play it until there is a Radio Edit of the track. Too many sh*ts and fu*ks. :o) Mark my words though........single of the year. 15)Orb-"Centuries" From the CD 'Cydonia'. 16)Fleetwood Mac-"Child Of Mine" From the 1971 vinyl LP 'Bare Trees'. Great song, great album. 17)The Magnetic Fields-"I Think I Need A New Heart" From the 3-CD set '69 Love Songs'. Impressive....69 songs on one album. 18)Allison Krauss-"Down To The River To Pray" From the CD soundtrack to the Coen brothers film "O' Brother, Where Art Thou". 19)Orbital-"Doctor Who Theme" & "Shadows" From the brand new CD 'The Altogether'. The U.S version of the CD is coming out in September and will also feature DVD technology on the disc. Apparently some of the songs will be re-mixed for the U.S. release as well. I also heard from a good source that they also did a remix version of the Doctor Who Theme in hopes to be used in a Doctor Who film or series, if that ever gets finalized. 20)Fozzie Bear and Rowlf the Dog-"I Got Rhythm" Recorded straight from the Muppet Show. 21)Primal Scream-"If They Move, Kill 'Em (MBV Arkestra)" Found on the last Primal Scream album "XTRMNTR". Also found on the "If They Move, Kill 'Em" CD E.P. 22)Radiohead-"Pyramid Song (Live In Berlin)" From one of the various Radiohead websites out there. I don't know where I found it, because the link is not there anymore. It sounds awesome tho'. 23)Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds-"God Is In The House" From the new CD 'No More Shall We Part'. 24)Banco De Gaia-"Sheesha" Found on the Beyond Records CD compilation 'Ambient Dub Volume 3:Aqua'. 25)The 3 A.M. Recording........... Sometimes you hear an album for the first time and it strikes you as a masterpiece the very first time you hear it. I remember the first time I heard tonight's recording. Way back in 89'.....back in those high school days, John Navarro would always play something cool in his dad's orange truck. Usually it was something that I had not heard up to that point, like various Talking Heads records, good classical music, or something out of the ordinary from his tape collection. Most of tonight's recording was recorded in 1972, but the album wasn't released until 1975. (Both very good years. :o)) I heard it in 1989, and I was way behind. The first time "Roadrunner" blares at you, you can't help but remember what it was like to cruise around listening to 70's AM radio, even though I barely remember the glory days of KTSA, back when they played pop music. I could safely say that none of this album was ever played on KTSA, but it sure does remind me of that crusin AM sound. Pablo Picasso is another track that really grabs a hold of you from the very first time. Like Big Star and other great bands that achieved little success in the time of their existence, Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers has moderate success, but the more their first album gets played, the more it will be cherished by generations to come. Good Rock and Roll, like Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and The Beatles, will not go away. This is a Rock and Roll album that will never lose it's atmosphere. It features Jerry Harrison, of the Talking Heads way before the "Heads", playing a massive organ sound, and Jonathan Richmond's amazing song writing capabilities. Tonight the remastered re-release of The Modern Lovers debut album "The Modern Lovers". The CD version features their classic tune "Government Center". This one is going out to Tom Boffo......where would we all be without Boffo? "Well he was only five foot three, but girls could not resist to stare and so....Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole......not in New York". Peace and great big fluffy hugs to all, Michael T. This show was recorded and available.
