Hi again cyberreaders. Those pesky viruses. I received some sort of virus this past week, so I had to wipe my hard drive. Oh well...all IS well now. Took me a couple of days to get up and running again. Most of tonight's list was written on the weekend, but I couldn't send it out. So...yet again, here's the playlist in the middle of the week for.... Recording was a surprise for even me. At the end of last year, one of my favorites bands broke up. I was sad, but also curious to see what the group members would do on their own, especially the lead singer. Earlier tonight I received a copy of tonight's 3 A.M. Recording. I didn't know what song to play, so I said to hell with it.....I'll play the whole thing. SO.....for the 15-20 listeners actually listening in this late hour, they got a great treat. A CD that may be my favorite album of the year, if not that, then it certainly will be up there with the best of the year. A quirky pop record that really isn't that different than the band that spawned the genius of Ben Folds. Tonight's album has lot of great songs, and incredible harmonies. All of the pieces except for the stringed instruments and one vocal performance were played by Ben Folds himself. He seems to have crafted his own personal sound from previous songs that he and his friends Darren Jesse, and Robert Sledge played in front of people around the world for almost 4 years STRAIGHT. Listening to the album for the first time, I can certainly hear that if Ben Folds Five didn't exist, then Ben Folds would have not made an album this good by himself. Here it is......a classic to come......the new solo album from Ben Folds entitled 'Rockin' The Suburbs'. It's not due for release until September 11th, but here it is in it's entirety two months before. Wait until you hear the title track....I thought that Weezer may have made the single of the year, but I think it will have to go to Ben. The single "Rockin' The Suburbs" will be released on July 31st. It will be heavily edited from the album version, and the rumor is that Ben wants Weird Al to direct the video. :o) "Ya'll don't know what it's like, being male, middle class and white. It's a bitch if you don't believe. Listen up to my new CD, sham-on". Thanks a bunch for reading this.... Peace, Michael This show was recorded and available.
