Don't miss the free music of the MPEG3 of the week. I will start to change the song every Saturday night. So catch a new song each week, while you can. You may have not heard the song before......and that's the point of me putting it there. IT'S FREE.....GO GET IT!!!! http://home.satx.rr.com/music4listeners/Mpeg3%20of%20the%20week/ Here's this weeks playlist....on time for the first time in a while. :o) Enjoy. Music For Listeners 10/06/01 1)Catherine Wheel-"God Inside My Head" From the clear vinyl LP 'Happy Days'. 2)Grandaddy-"Summer Here Kids" From the CD 'Under the Western Freeway'. 3)Silkworm-"Contempt" From the CD 'Lifestyle'. 4)Spiritualized-"Stop Your Crying" & "Do it All Over Again" Two songs from the brand new CD 'Let it Come Down'. Spiritualized is coming to America starting at the end of October. Don't miss them, as they are a great live band. They are playing Austin on November 15th at La Zona Rosa. In case you want to know, that's where you'll find me that night. 5)Clinton-"Buttoned Down Disco" From the CD 'Disco and the Halfway to Discontent'. A side project of the band Cornershop. 6)Air (French Band)-"Radio #1" From the CD '10,000 Htz Legend'. 7)The Stone Roses-"Standing Here" From the CD compilation 'Turns Into Stone'. Originally a B-side to the single of "She Bangs the Drums". Now found on various complilations such as 'The Complete Stone Roses' and 'Turns Into Stone'. One of the best b-sides ever made!!! Should have been a single to itself. 8)Happy Mondays-"Do it Better" From the CD 'Bummed'. A song about the drug "E" (or "X" for us Americans), as it was extremely popular in England back during the late 80's and early 90's. 9)The Charlatans-"Man Needs to be Told" From the CD 'Wonderland'. 10)Inspiral Carpets-"Find Out Why" From the CD E.P. 'Cool as F**k'. Originally a single in the UK as well. 11)Built to Spill-"Fly Around My Pretty Little Miss" From the CD 'Ancient Melodies of the Future'. 12)Luna-"Dear Diary" From the white vinyl LP 'The Days of our Nights'. 13)Ben Folds Five-"Tom and Mary (Live)" First released version and B-side on the "Where's Summer B?" CD single. The studio version was later released on the excellent compilation 'Naked Baby Photos'. 14)Falconer-"Earth Rise" From the ultra ultra rare CD 'Falconer'. He was one of the first engineers/writers for the Orb, and then released one solo album in Germany. Try to find this one. If you do, then your a lucky one. It's been a 3 A.M. Recording too. 15)Pixies-"Subbacultcha" From the CD 'Trompe le Monde'. 16)Primal Scream-"Insect Royalty" From the CD 'XTRMNTR' 17)Emergency Broadcast Network (EBN)-"Search" & "Electronic Behavior Control System". From the excellent CD 'Telecommunications Breakdown'. Would be a 3 A.M. Recording if it didn't have so much profanity. 18)The Beatles-"Hey Bulldog" From the CD songtrack 'Yellow Submarine'. The songtrack released a couple of years back that was remastered in 5.1 surround. 19)Aphex Twin-"Jynweythek Ylow" & "Vordhosbn" From the forthcoming CD 'Drukqs'. Out October 30th. Those are not mis-spellings. As always there are weird title names for the new album. Sometimes we just got pictures as the track names, so I guess we're lucky we got any at all. lol. 20)DJ Logic-"Michelle" From the CD 'The Anomaly'. Saw him and his Project Logic last night here in town. Really really great show!!! I was really impressed. I like it when techno bands have a real band instead of just twiddling knobs with lots of lights. Not saying that it's not fun to see that, but it's just better when there are actual instruments being played live. 21)Chomsky-"Destination" From the CD 'Onward Quirky Solders'. Only one more song and I'll have played every song from this fantastic album. It's in my car...on my computer and in the CD player here a lot. 22)The Police-"Miss Gradenko" From the vinyl LP 'Synchronicity'. This sounds so great on vinyl. 23)XTC-"Beating of Hearts" From the vinyl LP 'Mummer'. 24)Laurie Anderson-"One White Whale" From the brand new CD 'Life on a String'. 25)The Fireman-"7 A.M." From the now deleted CD 'Rushes'. If you find a copy lying around somewhere...buy it. If you don't like it, and you will, then you can sell it for more than you bought if for. It's a un-credited Paul McCartney project. 26)Air (German FAX label band)-"Elle a Du Shell" From the CD 'Air IV - Elle a du Shell' www.hyperreal.org has a place where you can purchase the limited edition FAX label releases. Most are only 1000 to 3000 copies. This album is only 2000. 27)"The 3 A.M. Recording" Tonight's recording was in my house as a kid, but I didn't get into the album much later into my early 20's. I guess I heard my parents play it, but it didn't sink in how good it was until later. Before Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac had Bob Welch and Danny Kirwan. Danny Kirwan has become one of the most unnoticed members of the Mac. He never really wrote a hit for the band, but the albums 'Kiln House', 'Bare Trees' and 'Future Games' wouldn't be the same without his great song writing and vocal style. Bob Welch, another great from the earlier period of the band also had his marvelous writing on the latter two mentioned albums. His song, "Future Games" is one of the best the band ever recorded. Another good thing about the album 'Future Games' is that it features my personal favorite, in a long line of Christine McVie songs, "Show me a Smile". My mother used to sing this song to me as a wee lad. She even included the lyrics to the song, in my baby book. My dad bought a copy of 'Future Games' at the second location of Apple Records way back in the early 80's. I still have that copy, which is now a little beat up and over played. Last year, while in San Diego, I bought a replacement that was in mint condition for only $3.99. I feature this beautiful piece of vinyl tonight. The first album that featured Bob Welch and Christine McVie as full fledged members of the group, Fleetwood Mac. Released in 1971....a good year for great influential movies, people and music, here is 'Future Games' on vinyl as tonight's "3 A.M. Recording". "You better take your time. You know there's no escape. The future sends a sign of things we will create. Baby it's alright, and so have faith. Oh yeah, you invent the future that you want to face" Peace and hugs, Michael Recorded and available
