31) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Muse-'Black Holes and Revelations'
Before we played this album on the show, Orly said it best, "It's a great science-fiction journey". Everyone who listens to the show, knows how much we loved Muse's last record, 'Absolution'. Orlando liked the newest album a whole lot more than their predecessor, but I have to say that I still think 'Absolution' is a little bit better. That said, this is another album full of noisy and atmospheric sounds, and this one may have more atmosphere than any other Muse recording. It has a concept record appeal without being over the top on the concept. Of course it really helps to have Storm Thorgerson design a great album cover to throw those otherworldly sounds over the proverbial top. This is Orlando's favorite album of 2006, and at his suggestion we played the album one song at a time right after its release. During this show, we played it all at once, in it's entirety. If you've never heard Muse before and you already love the spacey sounds of Pink Floyd and Radiohead, but also you love to seriously rock out, then buy any Muse recording. Some of their best work is on this album, and it rocks just as hard as any previous release. I'm sure the next album by them will be just as good, if not even better than this masterpiece. If Muse is coming anywhere near you, then you should really try not to miss their set. They are certainly one of the best live shows in the world. Bring your sunglasses though, because you should expect a blinding light show. Bring some earplugs as well, as they can be a tad bit on the loud side. You could see them in the summer of 2007. They are going one of the first bands playing in the newly built Wembley Stadium in London. (The largest "football" stadium in Europe) They have sold out two dates already. Over the two nights, they will play to over 180,000 screaming fans. (Boy the U.S. is always behind the musical times aren't they?) If you do happen to live in America, then try to find the limited edition U.S. release of tonight's "Mid-Morning Recording". It comes with the UK released DVD 'Absolution Tour', which is worthy of purchase on its own.
Michael - MFL
32) James-"Sayonara" From the CD 'Wah-Wah'.
