30) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Fanny-'Fanny Hill'
A couple of months back I received a text from my Aunt Nina asking if I'd heard of a band named Fanny. She had just watched a relatively new documentary on the California group founded in the late 60's, and were signed to Reprise Records making them one of the first all-female rock bands to be signed to a major label. I may have heard Fanny at some point throughout my adult life, but it is possible that like with so many other music fans, they slipped through the grains of time. I ended up watching the documentary on PBS, and was pretty shocked at how great they were, and how so overlooked they were. Bowie was a fan, along with many others. They are a great band, and very much ahead of their time. Each musician in the band was skilled, and all of them could sing as well. If you haven't heard of them and enjoy great slide guitar, bluesy piano, and funky drum and bass lines, you should really check them out, and maybe even buy some of their re-released work. This will not be the last Fanny album for a Mid-Morning Recording. All of their albums are great. "Someone's gonna get burned!" - Michael - MFL
