Looking for albums that we haven't played, I was surprised to see this one hadn't been played as an MMR yet. Three songs on this album were recorded right here in San Antonio. It's the only time I know of that either of these two master singer/songwriters have performed in San Antonio. So they need to return to play for an audience. This album was recorded mainly in train stations along two U.S. train routes. The Texas Eagle from Chicago to San Antonio, and the Sunset Limited from San Antonio to Los Angeles. Both of which I've ridden from San Antonio and back. The song "Waiting for a Train" was recording in the Gunter Hotel here in SA, in same room that Robert Johnson recorded half of his recorded output. It not only a tribute to the U.S. train system, but also to the folk songs influenced by the train. I was saddened that they didn't come back to Texas for the tour of this album, being that half of it was recorded in Texas, a fourth of it in our home city of San Antonio. A wonderful, atmospheric album.
