30) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Catherine Wheel-'Wishville'
Catherine Wheel are a big favorite. They didn't make one bad album. Every single release they put out was quality. People always seem to give this album a bit of criticism as being their weakest album. The crazy thing is, this album is great! It's really really great. So, if this is their weakest album, then that is really saying something about the strength of their catalog. There are few bands out there that just didn't produce a weak album. Catherine Wheel is one of them. I have friends that believe their b-sides compilation 'Like Cats and Dogs' is their best album! I mean, their b-sides were incredible! I think I was waiting so long to play this final release by the band because I've been hoping that they would reform. I played their previous five releases before 2009. The last one played was in May of 2008. So, it's a little sad to have no more recordings from one of my favorites, that I haven't already played. (I guess I could repeat a few...) I got a chance to see them live twice. Once opening for The House of Love in a small Austin club; the other was opening for INXS at the mid-sized coliseum in MFL's hometown of San Antonio. Both were spectacular! Never got to see them after the "Chrome" tour though. Never got to see them headline a show later in their years, with all those great songs in their repertoire. Here's to hoping! I can't even pick a favorite song on this album either. "Mad Dog" is a strong one. "Lifeline" is also a CW classic. Once again, they're all good. "You're the May Queen. I'm the magpie. We're the twin sisters. We're the real dreamers" - Michael - MFL
