Because Big Star's second album 'Radio City' is celebrating its 50th anniversary, I've been listening to the whole of Big Star's discography the past few weeks. I can remember that this fourth and final album was treated as an afterthought by many when it came out. Looking back, I really don't know why. The album is full of great songs, and there are a few tunes that I would now consider "Big Star classics". Much like their albums in the 70's, the arrangements change with almost every song, and that's because other band members usually wrote a few pieces along with the main songwriters of Chilton and on the first album, Chris Bell. This album reflects that style of multiple influences over the course of the recordings. It is their only 21st century studio album. "Don't you worry. You're troubled, you're sad. This is the best chance we'll ever have." - Michael - MFL
30) James-"Sayonara" From the album 'Wah-Wah'. |
