32) "The Mid-Morning Recording"       10cc–'The Best Of 10cc'
The band 10cc is playing in San Antonio this coming Thursday. I never thought they would ever play in this town. I believe this is their first major tour of the US in 40 years! I first heard of them with Graham Gouldman's solo soundtrack album to the animated film 'Animalympics'. (Now, I even have a couple of animated cels from the film.) I had surely heard their biggest hits in the 70's when I was even younger, but that soundtrack has always stuck with me as a favorite. As I grew older through my teens, I started to collect the works of graphic designer Storm Thorgerson more and more. Thus, my collection of 10cc records grew and grew. The picture of the sheep on the couch, on the beach, that is not so prominently featured on the UK cover of their album 'Look Hear', is the only official print I have of Storm's work. What I also started to notice was the name Strawberry Studios and became aware of the origins of the studio. The work they did with their own studio is a big influence on the sounds of so many that followed. That brings me to the past 30 to 40 years of listening to these records. The band was much much more than the hits, and some incorrectly say they didn't have that many. I went ahead and selected a compilation from them because I just couldn't decide which 10cc album I wanted to feature before their stop here in town. Hopefully someone out there became more aware of how many great hit songs they really have, and how atmospheric their quality of production really is. "And just because I call you up. Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made, ooh." - Michael - MFL
33) James-"Sayonara"  From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
