30) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Treetop Flyers-'Old Habits'
It does happen a lot, but every now and then there is a band that is so good at making music in the studio, even better at performing it live, and criminally underrated. Certainly within the past fifteen years, I'd put Treetop Flyers in that category. The only time I've seen them live was for the MFL parties in Austin, and they were astounding. They obviously wear their influences on their sleeve, but it goes further than the origin of their name. "Treetop Flyer" is a Stephen Stills song, and the band is certainly influenced by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, but also the complete sound of the late 60's and early 70's. The music and quality songwriting being created by everyone at that time. Well crafted songs and criminally underrated. I can't wait to see Reid sing again, either with Treetop Flyers, of his other excellent project Albert, who also are criminally underrated. More people should hear his music. More people should hear Treetop Flyers. "I hear you calling, Castlewood Rose. I hear your love call."
