27) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Gorillaz-'Demon
Days'
I always liked Damon Albarn's voice, and back when
I first heard the song "Clint Eastwood" I thought it was a new,
but really extraordinary song by Blur. I was wrong, but what followed
with the first two albums by Gorillaz has to be some of the best music
made in the past ten years. Since their first record was surprisingly
great, I was a little sceptical about a sophmore effort, and I was mistaken
once again. This album is not only better than the first album by Gorillaz,
but it is certainly better than one or two of the Blur records. I never
thought I would ever say that about Gorillaz, but there you go. The first
album is great, but this album is full of amazingly catchy tunes that
demand attention. This album even has the great Shaun Ryder making an
appearance, so it's a classic already. Due to their incredible visual
and musical standards they most likely will never take on a full blown
tour. To satisfy some fans though, they decided to film a live version
of this entire album on DVD. It's a good thing to track down, but I really
wish they could play live more. Bring on the next Blur album, bring on
another album by The Good, The Bad and The Queen, bring on the third Gorillaz!!!
