26) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Poster
Children-'DDD'
Since we have been playing a Poster Children song
every week during 2007 to celebrate their 20th anniversary, I figured
we should play one of their albums as a "Mid-Morning Recording"
before the year expires. This album was a surprise to me as they had
just released an album the previous year. Of course, I am a huge fan
of them, and this album is just as good as any other Poster Children
album, but I will have to admit it's not my personal favorite. (I've
already played my favorite three or four records from them on this part
of the program.) That said, there are some of my favorite songs by the
band presented on this record; "Strange Attractors", "Silhouette"
"This Town Needs and Fire" and "The Old School and the
New" are all worthy of being named P-Kids classics. They have great
harmonies, great bass lines, dueling guitars, and some awesome drumming.
The band being "Enhanced CD" pioneers in the mid-90's, this
is also one of their few CD's that didn't feature ANY sort of enhancements.
It is also their last album with sixth drummer Howie Kantoff, who went
on to tour with The Blue Man Group. I'll send this one as a shout-out
to my pal Jason Cruz. He got into Poster Children with this record;
better late than never. "Break all the connections and find a new
direction"
