33) "The Mid-Morning Recording"         Electric Light Orchestra-'Time'
I guess one could say that I litterally grew up with the Electric Light Orchestra.  They started as a group just as I was starting as a person. E.L.O. and Pink Floyd were certainly the first bands that forced me to pay attention to atmospheric or "spacey" music.  Now the word "atmospheric" is most likely my favorite adjective describing most of my favorite all-time music. Being a fan of E.L.O. in my young life, I was surprised that I looked over tonight's recording for many years.  Everyone heard the big single "Hold On Tight" overplayed on MTV, but it wasn't until late in high school that I first completely heard what would become my second favorite album by E.L.O..  'Time' is a brilliant conceptual piece telling the story of a person traveling through time from the early 80's to the end of the 21st century.  Not too many bands could pull this concept off as a musical piece, but Jeff Lynne and company surely do with grace.  "Ticket To the Moon" is one of their all-time best pieces and even the big big hit holds up over the test of time.  Overall, this is definately an overlooked album, and it is certainly up there as "atmospheric" recordings go.  It's a shame that they decided to cancel their last U.S. tour.  It's a shame that I may never see this great live act in concert.  This one goes out to friends and family; past, present and future.  "It's either real or it's a dream, there's nothing that is in between."
