29) "The Mid-Morning Recording"               Paul Simon-'Graceland'
This album has been mentioned several times in the past couple of weeks, and I was a little surprised to see that I hadn't played this album before. It certainly is a top-40 album, and a little different than the usual fare on KRTU, but of course, we here at MFL don't see any particular genre as bad; only good music will stand the test of time. Of course, "You Can Call Me Al" is the over the top, visual of Chevy Chase ridden track that it is, but all that aside, it is still a well crafted song. The album really starts off with possibly my personal favorite Paul Simon tune, "The Boy in the Bubble". Featuring a stick bass, accordion, some heavy percussion, a good voice, and good lyrics; it's all in there. All in all, this top-40 MTV laced album is a strong one from an artist right in the middle of his long career. It's full of Afro-pop hooks, catchy bass licks, and only a certain number of people could be as talented as to reinvent their career, and do it so well. "These are the days of miracle and wonder, and don't cry baby, don't cry, don't cry."
