30) "The Mid-Morning Recording"             Aphex Twin-'Richard D. James Album' (U.S. Version)
Haven't played an album by Aphex Twin in a while, and after Bill Baird played a track from this particular album last week, I started listening to this album again this week. I thought it a proper time to play as a "MMR". Not only because it is a great album, and not only because of Mr. Baird last week, but since Steve Hillage is our guest later in the month, it is fitting to play because I happened to meet Mr. Hillage while Aphex Twin was playing a set during the "Big Top Tour" of 1997. "He's off his rocker, isn't he?", Steve said. "I've never seen anything like it", I replied. (I can't say I've seen anything like it since really.) This same day in 1997, I happened to pass a couple of inches within the great Richard D.; but I really didn't know what to say to him. I'm sure he's heard it all before. "Hey man, great music".....how dull. He was already legendary in the electronic world. It is also a coincidence that I first heard the music of Aphex Twin in the KRTU booth way back in 1992, so it's always nice to hear Richard D. on the KRTU airwaves. Maybe someday, I'll get him to make an exclusive mix for "The 180". "I'm always frying up vegetables with cheese if you please."
