One year ago this very week, after many years of waiting, I finally got to see Dead Can Dance perform in concert. Easily one of the most unique concert experiences I have ever had, and obviously my favorite concert experience of the year. I really respect the musicians in this band. Their intelligence towards the music along with their mission of eclecticism and their varied influences. They obviously pull from world music of all kinds, but there are hints of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and even Frank Sinatra in their music. It is diverse and as you know, that is pretty much what we try to bring to you the listener on this program each week. New music, old music, diverse music. So DCD were certainly a check off on the bucket list for me, and one year ago this week I got to do that. So, this week I play their latest release which happens to be the document of their 2012 North American Tour. I wonder who stumbled into this one late night.
