35) "The Mid-Morning Recording"      Prince-'Purple Rain'
While "Purple Rain was an incredible juggernaut at the time of its release, it really wasn't until the album and live film of "Sign O' the Times" that made me a huge fan of Prince. It was his guitar playing that really did it for me. As more of a fan of rock and roll at the time, I was super impressed by his guitar work, and that made me start to understand his place in the pop world, and that he commanded any performance he gave. While I was late to the purple party, I had the privilege to catch up on his previous work. Over the years, I would hear a lot of his earlier work and respect the songs he gave to the world. Not just on his own releases, but songs that he wrote for other artists. The output he left is astounding. Anyone who knows me personally, (and some that don't), know that I love all things Minnesota, and this week Minnesota lost one of their most influential artists. He always called it home, and he passed far too young. "How can you just leave me standing? Alone in a world that's so cold." - Michael - MFL
Rest In Peace - Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016)
