31) "The Mid-Morning Recording"        Pink Floyd-"'The Wall'
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd, MFL is playing a Pink Floyd MMR all month, and we end the celebration with what is their second most popular album. I played the live version of the album, (which I happen to enjoy more), for their 40th anniversary, so I thought it would be good to play the studio version since we haven't played it before. Since November, I've been listening to "The Wall" a little bit more than I'd like really. Going on forty years old, the album's subject matter may be more current now than it was when it was released. In the late 70's, it was looking back to the time of Nazi Germany and dealing with the isolation of building a wall around oneself, and around one's country. A false sense of security, and the madness of falling into an egotistical nightmare. Isolationist and populist governments seem to be back on the rise sadly, so listening to this album now is more poignant than ever. Roger Waters will use his art to combat against this isolation as he sets out on a grand tour in May, including a stop in San Antonio. I'm sure he'll have plenty to say about the current leaders in the U.S. and in his home country of Britain. I don't know if humans will ever learn, but any walls that are built, in the end, are always torn down. "Would you like to send our colored cousins home again my friend? All you need to do is follow the worms" - Michael - MFL
32) James-"Sayonara"  From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
