30) "The Mid-Morning Recording"           The Orb-'The Peel Sessions'
The third and fourth session dates for the great BBC Radio 1 DJ, John Peel. Recorded in the famed Maida Vale Studios in 1992 and 1995. For a few years, before the days of the internet, there were mentions in the music magazines of The Orb performing The Sex Pistols classic, "No Fun" during a Peel Session, and in 1996, it was finally released it for us to enjoy on this album. The punk tune is pretty much a straight up cover which ended their third session, so it doesn't sound out of place as a over the top ending to a radio show. On this collection, it is nestled in the middle of some pretty terrific ambient house tracks. It's a fun listen, and I'm glad it exists, as it shows the playfulness of The Orb. It's easily the silliest track in their catalog, and that is saying something. I think the Peel Sessions mix of "O.O.B.E." rivals the album mix, and so does the version of "Valley". A little surprised I haven't played this really great slice of BBC radio on the KRTU radio waves before. I still don't think they released the final Peel Sessions from the Orb. Even though there was a BBC Sessions compilation that came out in 2008, it doesn't include any the songs from their 1997 Peel session date. I hope to see those on an official release some day. These two session dates compiled here feature tracks that are Orb classics! "I'm alive, so come on. I'm all alone, so come on. I'M ALIVE!! I'M ALIVE!!!" - Michael - MFL
31) James-"Sayonara"  From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
