The colder weather always reminds me of Kate's music. I know I'm not the only one, but when the weather turned cold this week, it made me check our list to see the last time we played an album by Kate. It had been a while, and after realizing that this album was released on November 2, 1993, twenty-six years to the day of this broadcast, I felt this was the one to play. I remember buying this album new, and only a few years later tracking down a UK vinyl pressing. It has recently been re-released on vinyl, and I'm thinking of picking one up since it appears this new pressing was from a new analog master. The original press was done from a digital master, and it sounds quite tinny. Even Kate herself was unhappy with the original digital mastering. I decided to play the CD pressing from the box set of "Director's Cut". It was the first place the new analog remaster was released. At the time of the release of "The Red Shoes", we did not know that it would be another twelve years before she would release another album. She's only released two studio albums since.
