29) "The Mid-Morning Recording"   The Whigs-"Live In Little Five"
I've seen the Athens, Georgia band The Whigs live many times at this point. They are in fact the only band I've ever seen live in Athens, Georgia. Easily one of the best rock and roll live acts of the 21st century. Each time I see them, it's even a little overwhelming to me. I'm either in Athens, at SXSW, or hosting the band the first few times they played in San Antonio. I went completely crazy in a mosh pit for probably the final time of my life at a SXSW performance. The last time I saw them, I passed out from dehydration. Lead singer Parker Gispert has said many times that Music For Listeners was the first place to play the band outside of Georgia, which I feel is pretty incredible. This band should have been bigger than they were, and they seemed to be on a rise, but then kind of all wanted to do different things for a bit. Being that they are on a somewhat 'unannounced' extended hiatus, makes me think they will return at some point. I haven't seen them play a big festival, (which they did play), or opening for Kings of Leon (who they supported on many dates over a span of two or three years), but I did see them up close and personal almost a dozen times in clubs. This live album recorded in Atlanta's Little Five Points, is really too short for me, as the band has so many great songs. It is a terrific document of their catchy hooks, drivin' rockin' guitars, incredible bass lines, and over the top drumming. Every song is a corker!!! Parker, Tim, and Julian are certainly one of the greatest rock bands ever. Thanks to Amanda for introducing them to me, all those years ago. "I'm cleaning out the cobwebs, flying high above the plains. I'm spinning on a saucer, spacing out with alien babes." - Michael - MFL
30) James-"Sayonara"  From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
