31) "The Mid-Morning Recording"       Talking Heads-'Speaking In Tongues'
David Byrne just this week finished his run of American Utopia on Broadway. It will be hard to top that show. A wireless 'Stop Making Sense' as it were. Back in 1983 was the 'Stop Making Sense' tour, supporting the album I decided to play for this morning's album. It has been a while since we played a Talking Heads album, and looking at our list of past albums, this album was not included. It is most likely their biggest selling album, featuring their only top 10 hit with the masterpiece, "Burning Down the House". The truth is, I prefer these songs performed live more than I do on the studio recording. So, I always reached for "Stop Making Sense" if I wanted to hear most of these songs. That doesn't mean this album isn't very good. It is a masterpiece of their catalog, (and many would rightly argue that every album in their catalog is a masterpiece), but they have such an energy live that maybe they consciously decided to smooth that energy out in the studio. Stay 'in the pocket' as it were. It is certainly a super amazing collection of songs that any art rock band would have loved to write. I mean, the album ends with a single in "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)". Another song that has found new life with cover after cover of the composition. They will most likely never get back together, but we have a few masterpieces to still enjoy. "Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view. I'm just an animal looking for a home and share the same space for a minute or two." - Michael - MFL
32) James-"Sayonara"  From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
