It was ironic that the weekend before Tina passed, I was looking up information on this live album. There is footage of this concert in the series "1971 - The Year Music Changed the World", so I wanted to find a copy of the record. The energy in the performance is undeniable. Tina let's it all hang out as she always did on stage. We thought of playing an earlier studio album from Ike and Tina, and I also thought to play 'Private Dancer', which cemented Tina as a massive musical influence as a solo artist. There is a great concert recorded in Rio that documents her live solo work, but I thought to play this album since it reflects on her time with Ike, who later in life she realized his mental illness was the cause of his abusive behavior. That abuse does not represent this performance. Also, the song selections and this soulful early 70's band is absolutely incredible. You can't see a dancing Tina on the radio, but you can envision her giving it her all. Rest In Peace Tina Turner (1939-2023)
