30) "The Mid-Morning Recording"        My Two Toms-'Who We Were and What We Meant by It' (Vinyl Version)
In honor of Charlie Parr being on the broadcast tonight, we decided to play something from the band that first introduced us to Charlie. His friends, and our first house band, My Two Toms from the UK. Charlie and My Two Toms play together regularly, and I even got to see them play with Charlie in Minneapolis, oh so many years ago. As with their previous recording, My Two Toms write even more "porch music diddies", and on this "third" album, they focused more on a better recording technique. The first two albums mostly recorded on the back of a pick up truck with a mini-disc recorder; tonight's vinyl recording was produced inside their homes, and features even more instrumentation than before. We are happy to have found My Two Toms and Charlie Parr as they have become two of our favorite artists. We hope My Tom Toms can come play for us here in Texas at some point, and they will be taking over Music For Listeners in February of 2012 with their own episode of "The 180". We can't wait to hear what "types" of music they will play. I have a feeling it will be "homey" and perfect for a listen during the winter and spring months.
Michael - MFL
