31)"The Mid-Morning Recording" The Wedding Present-'Bizzaro'
For the MMR this week, Orly wanted to visit an earlier album by David Gedge's wonderful band The Wedding Present. I'm sure we will play their debut 'George Best' at some point in the future, but I was surprised that we hadn't played their second album, 'Bizzaro'. It was a breakthrough album for the band as it were, featuring their first UK Top 40 hits. The album kicks off with the explosion of the amazing "Brassneck", which may have been the very first song I heard from the band. A good one to kick it off for sure. The first single "Kennedy" in the middle, and the great album cuts all around. Again, a little surprised this one hasn't been played as a MMR yet. We played Orlando's CD copy which he bought brand new as a UK import. It features the original UK RCA label track listing. As always, it is dedicated to John Peel. "I've just decided I don't trust you anymore."
