It is a little strange that on only last week's program we played 'Hunky Dory' in honor of his new album 'Blackstar', and for his birthday on Friday. Obviously the passing of David Bowie on the following Sunday was a shock to anyone who grew up listening to his music and seeing his films. He was a living legend, and now after his passing, he is even more of a artistic person to me. Even the way he passed on was art. He was someone who was never afraid to be creative. The music, the film, the creative art that I've seen in the past week is certainly a testament to how incredible of an artist he was. I didn't hear much of Bowie during the 70's except for "Space Oddity", which I always loved since it was about space. When I found the artist of David Bowie in the 80's, my taste in music slowly started to change; for the better. I had him on my concert bucket list for good long while, and luckily I did get to see him perform in Houston on April 29, 2004 with The Polyphonic Spree; one of a handful of shows they played together. An amazing showman and performer who put on an incredible concert. I'll never forget how amazing of a performance it was. Rest In Peace David Robert Jones.
