29) "The Mid-Morning Recording" R.E.M.-'Monster'
There are some who claim that R.E.M. weren't good after their first album. There are some who claim that they weren't good after "Fables of the Reconstruction". There are even more who claim that they weren't good after "Document". I myself feel that R.E.M. weren't any good after they broke up. I like every album from the band until they ended their recording career under the R.E.M. moniker. This 90's album in particular is a gem, and a highly overlooked, almost forgotten album by them really. It's pretty sexual, full of strange characters, and boy does this album rock. I remember being incredibly surprised by it when it came out. It was a way different approach to the previous two albums, and it almost felt like the band was just trying to have some fun again. Pretty much every song on this record is up there with their best work. It reminds me of my younger days of visiting pool halls, putting it on the jukebox, and knocking back a few beers. Something I don't do at all these days. "I'd settle for a cup of coffee, but you know what I really need." - Michael - MFL
