28) "The Mid-Morning Recording" U2-'The Joshua Tree'
Before this album was released, the band U2 was still considered an alternative, college radio band. After the first few singles of "The Joshua Tree" were released, it was pretty apparently that U2 had entered the mainstream Top 40 realm of rock history. This album is also the first place I first saw the names Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno. I would then start to see Eno's name everywhere with the discovery of Roxy Music, his own solo work, and production work with Talking Heads and David Bowie. As noted on the broadcast, the late great Kirsty MacColl was at the time was married to longtime U2 producer Steve Lillywhite, and she was the person who ended up choosing the order of the tracks on the album. Coupled with "Rattle and Hum", these two releases are the most American the Irish band ever created. - "Across the field you see the sky ripped open. See the rain through a gaping wound. Pounding on the women and children. Who run into the arms of America." - Michael - MFL
29) James-"Sayonara" From the album 'Wah-Wah'.
