31) "The Mid-Morning Recording" U2-'Achtung Baby'
A couple of weeks ago I finally got to see U2 live in concert. They are currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album, "The Joshua Tree" by playing it in full on this tour. While I do like "The Joshua Tree", I would have to say that I believe "Achtung Baby" to be their best album, start to finish. "War" was always my favorite since the first time I heard it, but "Achtung Baby" was so different. Like so many, I questioned it when it was first released, but after a few listens on the CD player, it became apparent that almost every song on the album could be a single. Over the next few months, single after single would be released from the album. While the singles are strong, as usual, the strength of a great album lies in the album cuts. "Acrobat", "Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World", "Zoo Station", and maybe my favorite U2 song in "Until the End of the World", all make this album incredibly strong. Here's hoping in 2021, they go out and play their masterpiece with a rebroadcast of ZOO TV. "We ate the food, we drank the wine. Everybody having a good time?" - Michael - MFL
