This week we lost a great musician and songwriter in Tom Petty. The only person who could stand toe to toe with Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison. While I will admit that my favorite album he recorded was with Travelling Wilburys, I don't want to discount his solo work and his work with The Heartbreakers. He made many great albums over the years, and certainly more than a few songs of his were big hits. I'm happy to say that I weathered the rain at ACL a few years back to watch his set. A great talent, and his songs will live on for a long while. Not only did we play a Traveling Wilburys song to start the show, but we also played some great covers of Petty's work throughout the program, and finally over two hours of his greatest hits with a few more unheard songs mixed in.
