32) "The Mid-Morning Recording" Ride-'Weather Diaries'
We've said it many times on the show, "Music For Listeners wouldn't exist if it weren't for the band Ride." Orlando and myself met at a Ride show back in 1991. So, our love for this band goes way back to before we even met. Orlando really liked this new "comeback" album by Ride, but I really loved it. It could even be my favorite album by them at this point. I say that because it's mature and well-crafted. Furthermore, after seeing them live for a third time, just a few years ago at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, I'd have to say that they are better live now than they were back in the 90's...and they were incredible back then as well! I can't think of too many bands that have done that really. As regular listeners may know, I am a huge fan of ambient build ups, and this album has some ambient pieces. Musical interludes if you want to call them that. It adds another texture to their musical catalog. A stellar album, well written, well-played, well-produced, and well mixed. I also dedicated the playing of the album to my late friend Bart, who I will always remember when this band crosses my path with either new material, or live in concert. "We'll be wiser when we fall. Like the dinosaurs before. When we've swept ourselves away. A better sense can start again" - Michael - MFL
