I do love me some Wim Wenders. Certainly one of the best filmmakers of our time. This particular Wenders movie was given a lot of grief for its pace. Even Mel Gibson, who plays a smaller role in the film, flippantly, and possibly jokingly said that it was slower than dog turds. Well, it is slow, but if you stick with it, it has some good rewards. Wenders movies usually are a slice of life, and usually do move at the pace of life. So it's not really a surprise to me when I sit down and watch a piece of fiction that he's directed, that it will most likely follow that pattern. The soundtrack features some amazing musicians, from U2 recording one of the best songs in their career with "The Ground Beneath Her Feet", to Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Brad Mehldau, Jon Hassell, Tito Larriva, and Brian Blade as a backing band for almost every other song. Also production efforts by Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Flood, Danny Saber, and more. If you like good character pieces about the balance of sanity in one's mind, then this movie might be for you. If you like amazing working musicians doing some of their best work ever, then this soundtrack might be for you as well. "And for the first time ... I feel love." - Michael - MFL
