Another one of the albums that I'm surprised hadn't been played before. I had a CD copy of this album at some point, but I lost it sometime in the 90's. I recently watched their 40th anniversary show from Hyde Park, and it got me onto a little bit of a kick revisiting their back-catalog. I recently found another CD copy of this album remastered, so I figured on playing it tonight as the spring time unfolds, and life, even in a pandemic, starts to be reborn. This album to me feels like a "new chapter" and a hopeful rebirth. It was certainly the case for the band themselves, as they found incredible stardom with this album. They were already one of the best Gothic/new wave bands out there, but when this album came out, it was a game changer. Being in high school when it was released was a great thrill. Everyone of my friends at the time loved this record. A lot of them still do think it is their strongest album, and I feel that it is the masterpiece of their catalog. I dedicate it to the Class of 1990, 30 years on. "If only I'd thought of the right words. I could have held on to your heart. If only I'd thought of the right words. I wouldn't be breaking apart, all my pictures of you." - Michael - MFL
